A day at the range

My youngest daughter dropped in from Texas over the Father's Day weekend and stayed until yesterday. Lastr Thursday I gave the two oldest grandkids and my daughter the full monte firearms safety portion that I teach for the Hunter Ed program and Firday we went to the range. THe kids learned their lessons well. The plan was to shoot handguns only as all my rifles are too long for them to shoot comfortably. We started with the .22LR and when they we comfortable with that we went to .38 Spl. in my .357 Mag. I demonstrated full power .357 Mag. loads and sid they could try them if they wished. TREcoil's not too bad in an "N" frame S&W. All three shot the gun and thought it was fun. I then demo's the .44 mag. and although I recommended they not try that one my daughter and grandson wanted to shoot it. My grandaughter said, "No way." They shot the .44 and both liked it, My 12 year old grandson he liked the challenge of mastering that gun and said he would like to have one when he's a bit older. My daughter said it was fun to shoot it. For some reason, none of them wanted to shoot the Colt Combat Commander. No matter, we all had a lot of fun and I'm sure we now have two new shooters on our side.

Thats great to hear, when i was young dad used to take us shooting. Now i take him shooting. I also have always been drawn to the challenge of stronger rounds although now i cant always afford the rush.
