A couple shotgun questions

Nightcrawler

I don't know too much about shotguns. Don't even own one. So, I know they manufacture shotguns with rifled barrels, and they also make rifled slugs. Are the two incompatible?

From a safety aspect, no. From a usage aspect, they're incompatable unless you really want to spend a lot of time cleaning lead out of your barrel. The correct loads for the fully rifled shotgun barrels are the sabot loads.

As a loose rule, sabots work best in fully rifled bbls, and full bore diameter slugs do best in smoothbores and rifled choke tubes,Nightcrawler.

Bore diameter slugs include the older Forster types and the various Brennekes.

Sabots are smaller slugs brought up to bore diameter by the use of a plastic sleeve, if you didn't know.

The only way to find out what slug shoots best in a particular shotgun is to range test them.

Hope this helps...
