A couple questions about Bersas

Hello everybody. New guy here. :)
I looked for an introductions board, but couldn't find one. If there's one, please point me there...

Anyway, I'm 52, new to the firearms world, born, raised, and actually living in Argentina (just like theguyofsouthamerica, but the similarities end there, I promise :D).

So, now, I'm trying to decide between 3 guns: Bersa's "thunder 9 pro", "thunder 9 pro xt", and "TPR9".

So here's the thing: I want the gun for two purposes: the range, and IDPA competition.
Now, I know all 3 are good for the range, but I know almost nothing about IDPA.
For ISPC, the thunder 9 pro xt is clearly the best one of the three. Does the same hold for IDPA?
Being that I'm 5'10", would the xt's extra length be a problem, or would the extra barrel length be an advantage?
Besides that, the TPR9 is said to have a better trigger than the thunders. Is that so?

So, in your opinion, which one of the three would be best for IDPA?

Welcome you will find many friendly and helpful people here ( along with a few opinionated responses). Try the search for your answers, there have been a lot of posts on Bersa pistols including my experiences which are not positive but most others are.

I'm not sure what to make of the TPR. The top Google hit is in Spanish. My Spanish is very (4+ decades) rusty, and Google's translation is "whimsical". (Bersa's English page doesn't even list the TPR.)

But, from here it looks like a carry or service piece, like the Thunder Pro. For a gaming gun I would go with the XT.

I didn't know the TPR wasn't sold in the US. In essence, it's a facelifted thunder 9 pro. Some say it has a better trigger, some say the differences are only cosmetic.
And about the xt, what I want to know is: does the extra barrel length make a difference for IDPA? I know it does for IPSC, but IDPA is supposedly meant not to be equipment dependent...:confused:
 
I find extra sight radius to be an advantage in any sort of aimed fire.
I do better with the 5" Government Model than the 4.25" Commander.

IDPA is definitely "equipment dependent." Why else would they have multiple Divisions for different guns?
