A couple new Chistmas presents to me

I've been on a bit of a gun buying spree lately. I just bought this new Colt 1911 XSE from Cabelas this week. I saw it a few weeks ago and couldn't get it out of my head, plus I had coupon that saved me $90. I haven't shot it yet, but if feels great in my hand. $837 with the coupon seemed like a good price.

Yesterday, I finally decided to free up some space in my safe and get rid of a few of the guns that just didn't interst me. I boxed up a Hi-Point 995 Carbine, Ruger P97D, American Derringer M-1, and a Charter 2000 Bulldog Pug. My local gun shop offered me $460 for all of them (Yikes), so I drove them down the street to a pawn shop. After some negotiations, I swapped the 4 guns for a Ruger SP101 with Crimson Trace grips and $200.

Here's a couple pics... Next up is a range trip.

I picked my Christmas present today. Glock 19 with Applied Laser Never Fired except for the inspection round the tech fired. Two hi cap mags and the rest of the normal stuff that comes with GLOCK.
I think I did pretty good at 475.
Happy New Year Everyone

Range Report

Took the SP101 along with the Colt and an M&P 45 to the range. Started at 7 yards. All my shooting is done off-hand, and I probably keep only a 1 or 2 seconds between shots.

Went first with the Colt, and grouped about 2 inches pretty easily. It was incredibly easy to shoot. The heavy weight tamed the recoil, and the single action trigger was pretty effortless. I moved it out to about 15 yards, and continued to shoot small groups. Felt like I couldn't miss.

Next up was the M&P. The group opened up to about 3 or 3 1/2 inches. What's up trigger? Feels like S&W left some gravel in there. Recoil was a bit more, but the gun was pretty comfortable to shoot. At 15 yards the groups opened up to about 6 inches, but this was the first time I shot it, so I'm sure things will improve.

Last but not least was the SP101. Went with 38 specials, and kept the laser off. First couple shots I didn't hit the paper. Next couple shots were all over the place. At first I thought something must be wrong with gun (it's never me...), but I turned the laser on and slooowwwly pulled the trigger and managed about a 5 or 6 inch group. This has got to be the one of the highest effort triggers I've ever squeezed. 15 yards, forget it. I'd probably end up hitting the target two lanes down.

When I got the gun, I liked the idea of the DAO and bobber hammer. But, the trigger seems ridiculous. Any other SP101 owners have problems with their triggers?

Overall I'm pretty pleased with all three guns. Sort of wished I had the SP101 with a hammer so I could shoot it SA.
