Two rows of stitching on this double layered horsehide makes for one stiff belt!

This added stitching is also a good way to add stiffness.

1-3/4 wide...finally found a way to use this buckle that had been sitting around for a couple years...

Belts from Rick

I ordered 3 belts from Rick about two weeks ago and asked him to re-dye an existing belt that I had from Dillons here in Phoenix.

They all came today. The re-dye came out perfect. Just what I was looking for. The three belts that I ordered also are perfect. I ordered a black and a brown for me and a black one for my son.

I ordered the roller buckle and it is very similar to the one from Dillon.

Thanks Rick. You REALLY do good work and doing business with you has been a pleasure.

You are a best kept secret and I hope the word gets out. I like Dillon and there is nothing wrong with them. These are a cut above.

Thanks for delivering what you said you would when you said you would.

Something learned about horsehide.....working with it is like opening up a box of chocolates....you know the rest.
You're never quite sure how the product is going to end up. In this case, it has a distressed look to it as the dye penetrated some spots more than others.
But personally, I like that look.

I ordered a couple belts from Rayban, one for me and one for a friend. I love mine and the friend that I ordered one for can't quit talking about how beautiful it is everytime I see him. I'd definitely recommend his work and will more than likely be ordering another in another color.

How thick are these belts? I bought a 5.11 stitch belt recently for my first holster belt. It was advertised to be .250 but actually measures .203,shame on you 5.11. I want something a little thicker.

How thick are these belts?

When measured with a digital calipers, my belt is 0.271" thick.

And how does one do that? Is there a website?

I just sent Rayban a PM to get mine.

Pics of my belt - which I believe was also a first for Rayban.

Great pictures! Thanks!

Jinx....leather can vary in thickness....sometimes that cow just won't stand still!!
Seriously, usually belt makers will describe there belts at "about 1/4 inch thick"...but 1/16" off is quite a bit.

The stitching looks great!

Did you punch holes and stitch by hand, or do you have an industrial sewing machine?

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the speedy reply. Looks awesome. I couldn't imagine marking, punching and stitching that much by hand.

Must be a heck of a machine for thick leather!

Tom

Tom, hand stitching a belt isn't really all that bad....use a stitching wheel to mark where the holes will go, then I stab holes with an awl...about 6 in a row, stitch, stab some more, etc......probably took me about 2 hours to do my belt.
In the end it was pretty rewarding....figure two hours to make something that will last a life-time, not bad.
But now I'm making many more belts with the help of this bad boy....
