A chance to take back our country.

Tonight, at 9:00pm. there will be a debate between the Republican candidates for President on CNN.
Please watch and with an open mind tell me who among these men you would like to haveleading this country for the next four years.
I'll be back after the debates to talk to anyone who wishes. I'd like your answers to the question posed, and it was written like that for a purpose. Thank you very much.

Surfing a bit before I drop off for the night. The topic caught my eye ....

I didn't catch the debates, nor do I care any longer.

That said, it doesn't matter one bit to me who is our next President.

It is we, the people who will decide the "events of the next four years+/-" (given, I'll accept the next Prez decides on some Supreme Court gizmo-guy & gals) ... nonetheless, will you (collectively) accept some idiots' view on how you shall live your life & under what new rules?

I won't. I have a moral code & will live by that - regardless. A new topic for another day.

I neither believe that "the new hope for The Nation" is in who is elected for The Prez-job nor in what any talking head says - ad nauseum. None have any vision whatsoever (with possibly one exception & we shall see).

The "new hope for this country" will be decided by a minority that, rather than "politicizes" current events, will actually define and act upon them, keeping in mind the .... well, I won't go into it now 'cause it would spoil the "new topic."

My new motto?

"Just say NO!"

I'd feel good with Alan Keyes in charge of as much as I trust anyone with.
I figure we have a choice:
Algor/Bradley--Unwilling to think about any issue; will go either with gut feeling of what's fuzzy and warm for The Children, or what is the most political gain.

Bush/McCain--Unwilling to think as well. Will do anything it takes to stay in office, meaning stay popular with the party and soccer moms. In addition, I have yet to see signs of intelligent life in George Bush. The idea of him sitting across from some Chinese diplomat who's been playing the game for years and trying to keep up with him mentally scares the hell out of me. I've recently been convinced that McCain is not as terrible as I thought on gun control but he still publicly says that it doesn't infringe on my rights. He also is bleating loudly about finance reform while busily raising money by the methods he decries.

Alan Keyes--Don't always agree with the man but most of what he says makes good sense and it's obvious that he puts a lot of thought into the issues from the depth of his answers and assertions (BTW, comedians are already making fun of Keyes for being "long-winded." I've never heard the man speak for longer than a few minutes. Are they expecting sound bites?)
The idea of Keyes matching wits with experienced and hostile diplomats doesn't bother me much--let's say I have more confidence in him.

Republicans? Democrats? All you're choosing is which group of special interests will provide the "soft money" that buys legislation. A plague on both their houses. I'm voting Libertarian, and I don't care if it's a lost cause.

Amen to that. As it's been said:
Democrats = Socialist Party A
Republicans = Socialist Party B

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

Labgrade: Hope you don't feel the same way about your gunrights, as you seem to feel about who is the next president of the USA. Do you live in a vacuum? Does this code you live by exempt you from your civic duty? How sad it is when attitudes like this are becoming common place, Voting is a duty and a privildge, and should be taken as such. To those who don't exercise these rights.. have little if any right to bitch or whine about present policies endorsed by our goverment. Please get out and vote.

12-34hom,

Hmmm ...

First, allow me to appologize for not making myself more clear.

I won't watch the debates (any longer)because I believe them to be irrelevant. I do keep abreast of the candidates' views however.

I didn't even address the vote/not vote issue & was mostly venting in that I really don't think it will matter (all that much) who is our next Prez (except as posted re SCOTUS). It will be up to us, the people, who eventually have any meaningful impact on the course of this nation. Your "civic duty," if you will.

I will most certainly vote - in the primaries, in the general (oops! forgot - the caucus) elections & perhaps, the last - with my feet - as in from a particular party.
Not from the process itself. I believe voting to be a duty and an obligation.

My moral code is not up for discussion.

As to how I feel about my gun rights = :) That bears no answer. Do try to keep up.

Sir, you have totally misread my intent, which I thought to be most clear.

I will try very hard from now on to be moreso.
