A bore rating of 8?

If the rifling/bore condition is rated an 8, is that 8 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excellent or something completely different?

I have never seen a bore rated by #s before, only poor, fair, good...etc.

I've run across a few sellers who rated the bores of their guns in terms of a percentage.

If that is the intent of the scale being used in your example, I'd be inclined to take it to mean that the bore is 80%. Depending on the context, that could be pretty good (in terms of an antique or relic arm) or not so good (in terms of a gun of very recent manufacture).

Then given its age, I'd say that the bore is probably in fairly decent shape.

Of course, the only way to really tell is to 'eyeball it' yourself.
