I took my dad to the pistol range, he had not touched a semi auto pistol in 15 ears. He was in the Norwegian army in the 70's. Still, he landed all the shots in the black area when he shot double handed. The only problem he had whas that he did hold that gun with his hand slightly back and above the other, he was on the verge of getting a nasty sled bite. Sometimes his thumb was way to close to that recoiling slide. After a lot of grip corrections and " DAD! mind that slide.." he switched to one hand shooting. I suspect that the hammerli - x-esse .22 has to small grips for him.The range we shot at is 18 meters. I suspect that the STI Rangemaster , or a CZ 75 SP-01 ( in 9mm ) i am going to get in may month is better for him to shoot, since he has "farmer hands".. I am not 100% sure yet, but it will be one of those guns mentioned.

I am planning to have the standard grips replaced by wood grips made by Hakan Pelt.
I have made a personal logo that i want to have carved in the grips:
bumerke2.jpg

It is composed of the runes used to write my name:

The grips will be made of flame birch, or curled birch.

Below is a smooth 1911 with grips in flame birch:

croz: it looks that way, or perhaps he just had good instruction or steady hands.

Here are some pictures, i do not have anyone from the range.
We have a 25 meters range that is located in the basement of a swimming hall. That one is used during the winter season. In the summer season we borrow the 25 meters range that belongs to Oppland Regiment on Terningmoen.

Oppland Regiment, a Norwegian infantry regiment, was formed in 1657 and is stationed at Elverum. It houses: GSK ( Scool for the royal guards), HV05 (Home guard, district 05), FLO Base Østerdalen, TRADOK, The Norwegian war and winter school -Offcier's scool(GBU), parts of HSTY-staff. The camp alt so has it own detachment of guards - Vakt og Sikring Kompani Østerdalen ( Guard and security, company Østerdalen )

As you folks can see, the landscape around here is pretty flat. The Norwegian landscape wary's a lot, from flat and small hills, to steep mountains and narrow fjords.

Hmm. I have a replica Viking sword, or replica of a presumed Viking sword dredged up in England. It has runes in the center of the blade, but I cannot read them! I also had a Norwegian Mauser K98 that was converted to 30-06, at one time. Has the cost of pistol ammunition increased a great deal in Norway, as in the U.S?

Well, the runes on your sword can be of different alphabets:

Pherhaps it is a replica of this one?

The costs of ammunition from a local big dealer here i norway is:

Sellier & Bellot 9 x 19 (9mm) Luger 115 FMJ, 0.23 USD a cartridge
Hirtenberg Kal 9x18 Ultra 6,5 gram FMJ 0.73 USD a cartridge
Lapua Kal 32S&W Long 5,35 gram WC 0.55 USD per cartridge

1 USD = 6.80239 NOK

Flat? That's not flat! West Texas is flat.

That's pretty country, actually.

And those flame birch grips are very nice!
