Wanted one for a long time. After not finding one for 20 years saw two for sale. Bought both. Shoot OK.

Barrel is modified. Started as a 6.5" with a Patridge front sight in 1970 it was cut to 5" and the ramp installed.

AC- Model numbers not used before 1957 so a 1953 K38 would be the "K38 Masterpiece."

CF- I was a big fan of Skeeter. He usually packed a factory original 4" 1950 in 44 Special. Such a gun would sell for 5K today due to scarcity.

I know SS was a big fan of .44spec., turned a M-28 and a .357 flat top into .44s. I was under the impression his favorite packing shooter was a M-27 with a 5" barrel.

I think the 5" 357 and the 4" 44 Special were his two favorites, and he carried both at various times, but mostly I recall reading about the 44.

This what happens when you enter geezerdom S.P. I started reading Shooting Times in 68 and was pretty faithful while in the Army and after until Skeeter's death (felt like I lost a bud) I remember his project guns and a .44 spec. SAA after he got out of the Army which could have been a 32WCF, memory fails me. I remember his M-27s and his 38/357 load, which I still use, his older buddy with the K-22, his buddy Jpe's stories and Dobe Grant stories etc. but have no recollection of a 4" 44 spec. Getting old aint for sissies.
