9x23 J-frame

Not sure of the wisdom of that.

The 9X23 is ~.012" wider at the head and has 20,000 psi more pressure than a 357 Mag.

The J-frames have some of the thinnest walls of a revolver, ~0.050". Making them thinner and increasing the pressure substantially might be a bad idea.

The 9x23 is a shorter case than the 38 special

"Not sure of the wisdom of that".

Me neither.
They will handle reaming to 9x19 just fine (same pressure as .357 Mag, and dimensions are not a problem).
But .357 Mag is a lot lower pressure than 9x23.
Pressure is the concern.
