Hey all.
Im really wanting a bew gun. Ccw gun and im way more comfy with revolvers. Im not rich by any means so affordable it must be. Lookin in the 4-5 hundred range. 9mm is the best round on a budget so..........
Are there any 9mm revolvers that fit the bill?
Tnx

I think only Taurus will be in your range. Taurus 905

it doesn't have the most sterling record. but that's just from gathering reviews from online seller, mst of the problematic reviews are pretty old. hopefully you can get some first-hand feedback on here. I will defend Taurus on the guns that I own and have good experience with, but I hear they also put out some unreliable pieces, and the 905 may very well be one of them.

right, I forgot about the LCR 9mm, that'll probably be a solid choice in your price range, and more appropriate for CCW than any other.

IMHO, the advantages of 9mm Luger in a revolver, namely cheap ammo, are outweighed by the extra trouble involving the need for a clip or the extra mechanism for extraction without it. If you want a revolver, my suggestion is to go with a .38 Special/.357 Magnum and forget 9mm.

You might want to shop around for a used Speed/Service Six in 9 mm. You have to use clips in them. I'll go with a used Ruger (or LCR) before I go with Taurus.

I think the 9mm would be an excellent small revolver round. It seems to generate very good velocity out of a short tube and in some guns comes with a built in speed loader. I, myself, would have to have a Ruger or Smith though.

Have a Taurus 905. Good solid gun. The Moon clips suck, but you can buy good ones from TK. Also, if you load a moon clip, and then dump it out for a reload, you can load without the moonclips and it is still 100%. Chances are slim you would have to reload in a defense situation, and extremely low to do 2 reloads.

The 9mm is more efficient and has less recoil than the .38 spl +p. Have both, shoot them side by side and the difference is very real, plus the 9mm is giving you better performance. I would not hesitate to suggest the Taurus 905. Ours has never had an issue. I was a little concerned over some of the bad reports, but I think a lot of it is piling on. Sure does not seem like anyone on this thread so far has owned or shot one except for me.

I too have a Taurus 905 and except for not liking steel case ammo it has been trouble free. (The steel cases were difficult to extract after firing...)

$800? For what? LCRs of any ilk should be right in your $400-500 range. Mine is the LCR357 shooting 38+p for carry. SD ammo in 38 is about the same price as SD ammo in 9mm.

I have 2. Taurus 905, and Charter Arms 9mm Pitbull. Both are excellent, but different from one another. The Taurus uses moon clips, the Charter has spring loaded tabs in the ejector star for engaging the rim. I prefer the Taurus/moon clip. The Charter system works fine, but there is no way to fast load it. I payed just under $400 for the Taurus, just over $400 for the Charter. Both are well made, high quality revolvers that I would trust my life to.

There are a couple comments about the Charter. Mine is a 6 shot, where as the Taurus is a 5 shot. The Charter also has the option for an easy hammer swap, from spurred SA/DA, to spurless DAO. The hammer is ordered from Charter directly, and is $20.

The newest Charter 9mm Pitbull is now a 5 shot. If you look around, the 6 shot model shouldn't be too hard to find.

I like both revolvers. They both function well, and are accurate and reliable. Here are mine...

I have a smith and wesson model 940 9mm revolver and a smith and wesson model 640 .357 revolver which are steel and the same weight, basically the same gun. I find 9mm to have much sharper recoil than 38+P. I would describe it as being a snappier, stinging type of recoil.

Being a fan of 9mm revolvers I have had a few different models, I had a Taurus and it broke so I got rid of it. I got lucky and got a S&W 940 and it has been great, I also got a Ruger Speed Six and it too had been an excellent gun. I have been keeping my eye out for a used Ruger Lcr 9mm to add to the flock. As far a felt recoil, I think they are a little snappy but not bad.

Wow...lookin at 8-9 hundred for one.
8-9 hundred for what? Which revolver are you referring to?

You can get a 9mm LCR for substantially less than that. It should fall within your price range too.

I'm with James K on this one . . . . but it boils down to what you want. If your mind is already set on a 9mm wheel gun . . then don't rule out a used one . . . .

I was refering to the s&w for 8-900. Not a fan of the new ruger 9mm.
i just found a charter arms 9mm in a 5 inch barrel! Cant find any reviews on it though..
