9mm Pocket Pistol?

Here's what I am looking for:

A single stack 9mm pistol with a manual safety that is not a S&W (even if there were no boycott, I never met a S&W auto I liked). Something small enough to slip into a pocket without a holster (hence the need for the manual safety which is a "feature" I normally dispise). Something similar to the Kahr MK9 but with a safety would be perfect but I don't believe it exists. Other suggestions? Please, no .380s, 9x18s, or .32s, looking for a locked-breech 9mm.

I can't seem to think of a QUALITY pistol that fits your criteria. Perhaps if you forgo the manuel safety requirement, a mini Kahr would fit the bill? Do you have to have a safety?

Doesn't exist. The Kahr MK9 is the only pistol of that size currently made. The Colt Pony was of a similar size, but didn't have a safety. The Glock 26 is double stack, too large for a pocket, and doesn't have a manual safety.

The S&W 3913 series is too big to be a pocket pistol, and you said you didn't want a S&W.

Sorry, but you're out of luck.

Btw, what do you have against pocket holsters? They work just fine...

I can't really think of anything that fits your criteria either. Have you considered a Glock 26 with a Safe-T-Blok behind the trigger? I have no experience with this device but it looks like a good way to carry an unholstered Glock.

I have pocket carried a G26 on occasion, unchambered with a full mag. It was pretty damn bulky though. The Taurus P-111 looked interesting but I am guessing it is at least as thick as the Glock. I am perhaps stuck with the Kahr and a pocket holster of some sort.

KelTec P11? Double stacked and no manual safety but it is about as thin and light as you'll find. With the long trigger pull I wouldn't be concerned about a ND as long as there was nothing else in the pocket with it. It holds 11 rounds of full power 9mm.

What about something different?

A Ruger SP101 or a used Slick&Weasel 940.

Not autos and only 5 shots, but DA revolvers are good pocket guns.

Also, IMHO no handgun should be carried in a pocket without a holster.

Andabeer, Check out the STI web site www.stiguns.com and have a look at their LS9. It's an abreviated 1911 lower with their own top end. The gun is quite slim at 3/4 of an inch and as it's based on the 1911 so you have your manual safety.. Not quite as small as a MK9, but darned near it.. Mark / FL

Nope - The Pocket Nine has no external safety. That said it does meet all the other criteria and weight is 17oz. They are somewhat difficult to find though.

Nope, no manual safety on the Pocket Nine and it's no longer made.

heritage stealth 20ounces +/- 9mm 10 rounds
pocketable, non finger grip extension mags available, with a safety.

Hmm. The closest thing I can think of is an Astra A-75. Has a decocker instead of a safety though. (Smaller than a SIG 239 and the decocker is in the same position as the 1911's.)

You're not going to find a quality 9mm pocket pistol with an external safety.

It wouldn't be a functional nor wise feature.

Drawing from the pocket or deep within your waistband for that small a gun will get you shot when you should have been running for cover and quickly grabbing your last ditch piece.

Second, such a saftey would impede and slow your draw and circumvent its deep concealment mission. It would print easier.

The MK9 is about as good as it gets. Otherwise you'd have to look at a .32 ACP like a KT P-32, Seecamp or Guardian.

The Pocket Nine is no longer made, true, and I would be worried about finding parts in the future unless I had a real gunsmith, but the gun is available through Bachman Pawn and Gun in Dallas, NIB $499.

Colt Pony? PLEASSSSEEEE! That overpriced POC! That trigger has to be the roughest, grittiest work I've ever seen commercially released and where are you going to get parts?

Maybe their 1911s and ARs but not anything with their name on it in .380 or 9mm.

Dealers here can't give them away.

The taurus pt-111 millenium. Some people have had problems with them, but I haven't. The only problem is its a double stack. It does have a manual safety, but with the long trigger pull you probably wouldn't need it
