9mm "medical device"?

Not covered by medicare (no hcpc code for the device)...bummer on that part of it. That would be cool to be able to get a script for it though.

BATFE approval?

handgun? Medical device? AOW?

Is it all plastic?

What about getting through airport x ray machines?

Is this the next "terrorist" weapon of choice?

When do we get a two shot version?:D

I've seen this thing show up on a few forums. I think it's vaporware and crappy vaporware to boot. I can't imagine an actual DOCTOR writing or recommending this product. Furthermore, I cannot see any respectable gun store selling it either. If this thing ever gets made it will probably be an AOW.

Ya here we go again, some people will make, sell, buy, anything ! Anybody looking for a pocket mouse gun :D ( just think some fools have bought this thing in the past to protect life and property)

I kinda thought the same thing.

It would give "fast-acting relief from all your symptoms." (Too morbid?) :D

Right after I read about that the first time, a few years ago, I read immediately afterwards that FDA had yanked thier designation, and refused to reconsider. I doubt there is any more than one prototype, if that.

something different

actually,
I think it is refreshing to see someone doing something different
and coming up with something out of the ordinary.
I am even tempted to put in a pre-order,
just for the heck of it.
I can think of worst ways in spending 300 dollars.

I also understand that the FDA does not currently have it listed as a medical device, and has not since shortly after this story broke a year and a half ago. Notably, they make no such claim of certification or even application for certification on their website. It does appear that the company has made updates to both the website and the design, both signs that somebody is still spending time and money on it. This is true at least as recently as March of this year, anyway. One major alteration is that the chambering has (understandably) been changed from 9mm to .38 Special.

Skepticism is warranted, but I do wish them well. This type of device may very well have real utility to the people at whom it is targeted, and that makes it a worthwhile effort.

ADD: I just noticed that The Palm Pistol have several articles about the FDA denying their application for classification as a medical device on their own site.

I don't know that it ought to be considered a "medical device". It is designed to be usable by handicapped people, but beyond that, it doesn't have a "medical" use. At least as I see it. Definitions in law (which I am unaware of) might be different. So far, it seems that it has not met the requirements for such a designation.

Non handicapped people could use it and get the same "benefit" from it as a disabled person. And, while one shot is better than none, can any gun be considered a medical device? Many things can be used to defend, and even save a life, without coming anywhere near meeting the definition of a medical device.

They've been "coming out" with this new palm pistol for over 3 years now...occasionally I'll check up on it. FWIW, I like the concept - wish it held more than 2 rounds though and would hope that it is nicely constructed.

I've always had a soft-spot in my heart for the Chicago Palm pistol - one day I want to own one.....but for now, too expensive and too frivilous, and it only uses antiquated .32 (not .32 acp) ammo....I believe.

LOL to the guys who said it looks like an inhaler because it definatley does. That could really get people killed who think it is one (there are some dumb people or a child). Also I think its just stupid, How about a firearms manufacturer makes a custom 9mm or 38 special for "elderly hands".
