9mm JHP recommendations?

After having participated in a low-light shoot, I've determined that I need to find a low-flash carry load. Can I get the forum's feedback on recommendations for such?

I've seen the Federal 124gr. Hydra-Shok and it flashes a lot, so that is out.

Federal 135gr. Personal Defense Hydra-Shoks have very little flash, but the one thing I worry about is that it's touted as low-recoil and I wonder if it's too weak, esp. out of something as small as a Kel-Tec or a mini-Glock.

How do Speer Gold Dots, Winchester Silvertips, Remington Golden Sabers, etc. perform? I'm not looking for a +P load (esp. out of a Kel-Tec P11). Low flash is a must, as well as ballistic performance.

Any comments on Federal Hi-Shok 9BP 115gr.? CDNN has this stuff on sale right now for very cheap.

Thanks.

I'm with you on the 124 gr Hydrashok -- I also found it to have excessive flash. I'm currently using Remington 115gr +p+ (NOT Golden Sabre). This does not have excessive flash. Of course, there is concern about excessive wear, due to the +p+ loading...

The Remington 115gr +p+ has almost the same ballistics as the 115gr +p. Its the flash suppressant in the powder that brings the pressure up to +p+ levels. This won't hurt any modern gun, especially in moderation - NATO pressure levels are at the +p+ level, and people fire thousands of rounds of NATO spec ammo...

Remington's 124gr GS, any ProLoad (GD), and Speer GD all have little flash signature.

Of all the 9mm ammo I've personally tested, I found the Cor-Bon 115 grain load to have the least muzzle flash. That is the load I use in my Kahr K9. mark / FL

i cannot tell you too much about muzzle flash, i do not worry about it too much.
iam posting because i wondered what you thought of the keltec. just looking at one wednesday, did not care for the dao, but i quess you get used to it. any + or - about it? thanx.

Morgan...my sincere apologies sir. After reading your post, I thought you were full of crap about Rem.+p having more flash than Rem+p+. I happened to have both and did a night time test. You were right, the +p+ had less flash than the +p (I still wouldn't consider it low flash, but where I consider the +p unacceptable, the +p+ is still within my limits). Thank you for the good info.

Roundabout,
In response to your questions- I like the Kel-Tec quite a bit. It had some problems with shaving brass off the rim of the cartridge on extraction but that problem fixed itself after about 500 rounds.

The DAO trigger has gotten a little smoother over time, but you have to get used to the long trigger pull and the long trigger reset.

Morgan, thanks for your comments. I assume that you're talking about the standard pressure loads of GS, GD and ProLoad?

I'm not shooting +P out of my Kel-Tec- my personal preference, not to say that the gun can't handle it.

winchester 115 gr silvertip

pmc -el dorado starfire 115 gr
