9mm GoldDot Ammo

My local dealer has a boat load of Speer GoldDot 9mm Para ammunition.

The label states the following

RECLASSIFIED
Not for law enforcement
9mm +P 124gr. GDHP

Any one know what's deal with this reclassified ammo?? Sounds like policitaly correct thing???

Maybe a large order was canceled so Speer just remarked the boxes to avoid taking a loss on the ammunition.

I've heard that this is LE contract ammo that didn't meet performance specs (i.e. velocity wasn't high enough) and was rejected either by the LE agency or by Speer itself.

That is correct. It is contract ammo that didn't meet specifications and was rejected. It is still perfectly good ammo and meets +P specifications, just not velocity specs for the contract.

Usually a bargain if you can find it.
