9mm Federal rimmed

Keep an eye on Gunbroker, they get posted there from time to time. Last ones I saw were $75 a box. Makes those Charter Pit Bulls nothing but an interesting paperweight!

It's a shame. That thing should have been put in a genuine scaled down frame, shorter cylinder and all to make a lighter concealed carry weapon.

Has anyone had one of them altered to use non rimmed and moons?

A friend of mine shortened a few .38 S&W cases and made 9mm rimmed cartridges out of them.

They fit into my S&W 940 and Ruger 9mm Speed Six, without using moon clips and ejected just fine (unfired).

I didn't actually fire them and cannot say if the cases will hold up to many reloadings. But they might do just fine.

I think these would work in a gun made for the 9mm Federal round. Any reason they would not?

Bart Noir's friend is right. Just trim the .38 S&W cases to .754 and run them through a 9mm sizer die. Load with 9mm bullets using 9mm loading data. Or shoot 9mm and pick out the cases.

Revolvers chambered for the 9mm Federal have chamber shoulders so they can also fire 9mm Luger without clips if necessary. The round was yet another attempt to provide a revolver for police who were issued only 9mm Luger ammo; they could buy some 9mm Federal ammo and then use issue 9mm if necessary.
