9mm decision...

I like coming here to help in my decision making process. Always get a good mix of opinions pro and con...
Been wanting to add a 9mm to the collection. Decision is down to SA loaded stainless 9mm and HK USP 9mm also stainless. Primary use for this gun will be paper punching so carry isn't an issue. I don't see to many SA in 9mm and I know the full size stainless USPs are being discontinued.
So, what is the consensus opinion....Springfield or USP?

i'll try to help

I've tried the 9mm springfield and the full size USP, but in .45.

For me, between those two that I've tried, I'd go with the springfield. Although I was just as accurate with the USP in .45, the springfield felt so good in *my* hands. Recoil was very tame. And you can't complain about the SA's trigger.

My only qualm's about the HK are the plastic trigger. Feels funny to me, but it didn't bother me too much when I was shooting well with it. I'd like to try out the HK USP in 9 to get a good comparison. Although my buddy, who let me try his HK 45 had originally planned on getting it in 9mm, decided on the 45 because the perceived recoil for him wasn't much more than the 9...

Have you considered a Browning High Power or a CZ 75 or do you jsut have a lot of money to burn? If so, email me and I'll give you my address and I'll burn it for you, keeping you nice and safe...

My picks for a 9mm handgun are the Glock 17, Browning Hi-Power, and the Keltec P11. I own all three, but for the range, I'd pick from the first two. :)

Since these are the only two you are asking about, I would go with the SA. If you've got the money, get both. The HK is nice, but a discontinued loses value if it's not a collectible and a broken gun is just an expensive paper weight if spare parts are hard to find.

The HK USP series is not being discontinued, only the SS models (according to the folks here). The SS model is no different than the HE finished USP as far as parts are concerned. If Kermit went with the USP stainless, there would be no problem at all finding spare parts.

I'd pick the HK.

Kermit,

Depends on which type of gun you have the most of. If you have a few hard core polymer war weapons then go with that pretty spingfield, otherwise I like the combat tupperware.
