9mm 1911?

Years ago, I shot my buddy's Colt combat commander in 9mm, and it is simply one of the best shooting pistols I've come across. Are these or anything like them still available? I'm interested in full-size, or compact. Thanks.

The one I see on a regular basis is the Springfield Armory "loaded" 1911 in 9mm. Seems like a nice piece ;) I've also seen a few 38 supers converted to 9mm from Colt.

Hello. STI offers a 1911 9mm in their 5" or 6" Trojan. You can read about them at www.stiguns.com. When you get there, click on "Complete Guns." I have one in the longer version and while big for a 9mm, it does shoot on par with my SIG P210! Mine's been reliable with all types of ball and JHP ammunition.

Best.

JohnG, those used to be the cheapest Colt at any gunshow. Don't know about now, but they did not seem at all popular.

They do shoot nicely, though. A 9mm government is also an easy-shooting critter. Just zilch recoil!

I have a plain old every day, rack grade GI Springfield Armory in 9mm and you're right they are sweet guns. I love mine...

If you are looking for one of the best, consider Les Bear 9mm.
Verrrry accurate and reliable.
