94 Packer Winchester .44 magnum Maximum CUP allowable

I have the opportunity to pick up a Winchester 94 packer in good condition about 10 years old for a good price but I am hesitant as I have been told that it won't handle the high pressure hunting loads like Buffalo Bore. I am completely unable to find any Marlin in .44 magnum any more leaving little choice of a good .44 magnum. I want to have the option to carry my Ruger SRH and a rifle with the same high powered loads in both with over 300 gr bullets.

What is the maximum CUP, maximum load I could reliably use in this gun without damage or danger? Thank you,

Alaska

Alaska, in a thread I started "44mag vs 45lc". There's a link to a Liebaugh article. He stated the Winchester 44 rifle could be loaded to 40000 cup. Check it out.

I sent an email to Buffalo Bore. Tim wrote back the following:

Here is their message:
Can I use the 305 gr Heavy .44 magnum rounds in a Winchester Packer 94 about 10 years old. I hear that max is 40,000 CUP for that rifle.

Yes you can. Take care.

Tim

I read a few articles that indicated the 94 AE trapper had a stringer action than the marlin. Not sure if it was just for what they called the big bore or not. I had a 444 94 AE trapper and it was a really nice rifle. I hope to own it again some day.
