930 spx gas system help

hello all, been a long time lurker and just registered! Great site! I am new to semi-auto shotguns and recently purchased a used Mossberg 930 spx. I read the owners manual and watched a few videos on youtube for the assembly/disassembly. I totally disaaembled the gun and cleaned it, I think this was the ONLY time this gun was ever cleaned. I am having a hard time re-assembling the gas system. I have the gas piston back together, no problem there. My problem is, I have this gas ring and cannot remember exactly where it goes? Does it belong in the lug on the same side of the piston (trigger side) or does it go on the same side as the heavy spring (muzzle side of the barrel lug)? Thanks alot in advance for any help.

See figure 15 and the accompanying notes. Step 3 is sliding the barrel on after the seal ring is placed on the magazine tube. Yes, that would postion it inside the barrel lug. Pay careful attention to what is said about the orientation of the gas ring so that it faces out, and how it and the gas piston muct be on the magazine tube BEFORE the barrel is installed.:eek:
