92FS to Brigadier Upgrade??

A few days ago I got a chance to handle a friends 92 Brigadier at my local range. It was nice, I don't know what it is maybe the extra weight or something else about it but I really liked it.

Now, I already have a stock 92FS which I like very much and I'm really not interested in purchasing another Beretta. My question is, would it be possible to convert my 92FS to Brigadier specs just by swapping a slide. Also, what other differences are there between 92FS and Brigadier? Has anyone here performed such an upgrade? My other question, assuming this is possible where would one go to buy the Brigadier slide and how much would one cost.

Thanks in advance.

Possible? Yes...I've put a brig slide on my 92FS and it worked alright. However, the factory doesn't reccommend it and I can't say I was comfortable...I had that creep "My gun will explode any moment now..." feel. :(

The heavier slide is the only change made to the brigadier, as well as the removable front sight.

As for the bad news...A couple of years ago, when I was wonderin the same thing, I called Beretta parts. A brig slides costs just under $300.00...which is close to the price of a used gun. Why bother? For an extra $100, I could have two guns, and one could be a different caliber...

Hope it helps.

If really want a nice Beretta, take a look at the Elite II. It has the heavier Brigadier slide, a G model saftey (decock only like a Sig), match stainless barrel, checkered front strap, extended mag release, lighter trigger, skeletonized hammer, etc. It's a two-tone finish with a black frame and stainless slide/barrel.

They retail around $700 and are a lot of gun for the money.

Not sure why you would want a heavier slide (?) The 92FS already weighs 36 ounces total and putting more weight on top just makes it more top heavy. Any way, I am one of the guys who called Beretta to ask them if slides interchange and they said flat "NO!" I wanted to get a 96FS and have a 92 slide to shoot 9mm.

Some slides will swap out, but it might affect accuracy or cycling reliability.

if it is in your budget get the elite ll . my gun guy at aim inc. talked me out of a stainless 92fs,and into an elite ll .i have no experence with berreta but wanted one.my wife says want is the cause of my disease(gun sickness).i am really happy with it, I shoot bhp's,1911's,para's ,and even a cz 75,but I really like the elite. If I bought a 92 and did all the custom features of the elite it would have cost more. If you can find a honest dealer or a friend to order one they can be had for around $600

Thanks Guys,

It does sound like I'm better off just getting the elite II. I got my current 92fs used, the deal was too good to pass. I had no idea I would like it so much and eventually would want to improve it. Due to the some very unfortunate local regulations it would be a large pain in the ass for me to go for another 92 (3-4 month wait be exact) I was therefore hoping that I could upgrade my way to an elite II. I guess I'll have to do some math on that one.

Thanks again for all the great input.
