My 929 has FINALLY arrived at my shop after what feels like YEARS of waiting. What a spiffy gun. I can't wait to get it home. Its a bit more nose heavy then the 986 but everything else felt great.

S&W 929

I grew up shooting revolvers, mostly, with rifles, shotguns and semi-auto handguns thrown in; primarily the revolvers were S&W. Must have been a good dealer in KY, in the late 1940s and early '50s.

I bought an S&W 986 on August 15th. Really love it. Shortly after my purchase, a couple of days; I saw, on this forum, that a Model 929 exists. Ordered one immediately! We're talking two months and not a peep from S&W.

The local rep was at my LGS a couple of weeks ago, missed seeing him. But, the dealer says no word.

I asked again Friday when I picked up a SIG 1911 MAXM .45; he says he has no idea if and when we might get the Model 929.

I ordered an S&W Model 41 months ago, finally bought one off Gun Broker.

Is this the usual delivery with S&W?

not normal production S&W guns. the 986 i think is normal production the 929 and the 41 (i think) are performace center guns. Which is like a custom shop and its kinda like when its done its done.

Both the 986 and the 929 are Performance Center guns. I can verify the existence of that 929 independently, heh. The 986 has less work put into it, it sounds like, as it does not have a PC "Tuned Action." Oh, and it doesn't have Jerry's name on it.
