8mm Lebel

Frank Barnes book "Cartridges of the World" has a brief history of the rifle/cartridge. I have an 8mm Lebel in my cartridge collection, do you want to know anything about dimensions, headstamp, etc.?

No one produces the 8mm Lebel in the US today. I have a couple of Remington red/green boxes from way back. Velocity and energy are very respectable, about in line with .303 British. Horrible rimmed tapered case, though. Functioning in MGs was awful.

Do you want info on the Lebel cartridge, the Lebel rifle, on later rifles chambered for the cartridge, or all of the above?

Back in the early 80's I used to custom load 8mm lebel for a guy who was a VP for Heckler and Koch. If I remember correctly, you can turn brass from the .358 Winchester. You have to lathe turn each case individually and it's a MAMOR PITA, but as long as you save your brass and use loads on the light side, you can reload those cases nearly forever.
(I'm not even going to guess at powder charges!)
