870 Wingmaster stock finish?

Is the factory finish a sprayed-on poly? I just got an older used buttstock that could use some touch-up, but I don't want to strip/sand/refinish unless necessary. What can I use to work out some very light scratches and bring back some shine? Would Birchwood Casey Stock Sheen work? Also, are these stocks stained or simply finished with their natural color? Thanks.

Although Remington doesn't advertize it much these days, they still use the "Bowling Pin" finish. This is some kind of epoxy finish that's tougher than a $2.00 steak. It requires something like Brownell's special stock stripper to get it off.

Remington doesn't stain it's Wingmaster stocks. That's the natural color.
