Hi all...
Forgive me if this has been discussed, and I couldn't find it, but...
I have a pair of 870 expresses. I have some very minor finish imperfections and nicks I'd like to touch up...anyone have any suggestions on how to best do this?

Thanks...

The Express is a standard gun blue over a bead blasted surface.

Ordinary touch-up cold blue will work.
You can buy various brands like Birchwood-Casey at any gun store or Wal-mart.

You'll need to use a solvent like lacquer thinner or acetone to thoroughly degrease the area, then slightly warm the area with a hair dryer before applying the cold blue.

WARM not hot.

Cold blue work well for little nicks, but if you are trying to touch up areas that get constant wear from handling, it won't last all that long..But,, it is better than nothing. The hair dryer trick works well too.

If you are worried about it Cold Blue will work. However it is an Express (not knocking them I have some and have owned even more), and they will happen. I clean them with CLP, and what doesn't come out gets black magic marker. Not very technical, but they are working guns, used mostly for waterfowling-about the worst sport on shotguns. If yours isn't going to get worked that hard, the bluing will work, but won't match perfectly in my experience.
