Hey guy's i have a question about my 870 express magnum.
The first question is this how do i remove the stock and fore grip?
I was not given a manual when i bought gun and its my first pump
shot gun,and its not jumping out at me on how to remove the fore grip.
Also do i have to drive out those pins in the back end of the reciever.

To remove the stock, remove the pad and use a long screwdriver or socket with extension and undo the stock bolt.

To remove the forearm wood from the action bars, one needs to loosen the nut at the front of the assembly. Brownell's sells tools for this, but I've done a couple with just needle nose pliers.

I assume no responsibility if you goof up. Good luck...

I "think" you are asking about removing the fore-end stock from the receiver. If so here is the drill.

From the Remington Gods, direct to you!

How To Disassemble
1. Engage the safety mechanism. RED BAND WILL NOT SHOW.
2. Push the action bar lock upward and pull the fore-end rearward to open the action.
WARNING! Look into the ejection port and check the chamber and magazine to make sure there are no shells
in the firearm.
3. Slide the fore-end forward approximately halfway.
4. Unscrew and remove the magazine cap.
5. Take hold of the barrel ahead of the magazine tube and pull the
barrel from the receiver.
6. Push the carrier upward.
7. Reach into the bottom of the receiver. Depress and hold the left shell
latch.
8. Slide the fore-end forward and off of the magazine tube.

Give a man a fish and eats for a day, take the the time to teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime. Here is the Remington 870 bible on a pdf http://www.remington.com/pdfs/om/om_870.pdf this should answer and teach most of the fine art of 870 dis-assembly, (NOW proper re-assembly will "cost ya EXTRA chief!)

Good Luck with you Express, and Be Safe

Youtube has the liberty video posted... Just search 870 field strip.

It is easier to get the spanner nut off a mossberg if I remove the fore-stock assembly first as SGB spelled out...

For normal maintenance, field stripping is all that is necessary. Your owners manual has directions for field stripping. If you don't have an owners manual, call Remington at 1-800-243-9700 and request one. In the meantime you can find one online at http://www.remington.com/pdfs/om/om_870.pdf .

It can be a big help your first time out the door to have someone on hand who already knows how to do this- it isn't that difficult when you know how, but learning might be easier with a little help on hand.

I'm hoping to soon be getting a used 870 Wingmaster, and have been wondering the same thing about disassemble. Would the above directions be the same for the Wingmaster?

I would not recommend you remove the forearm/foregrip from the action bars. If the wood is the least bit tough to get off, or the lock nut stiff, you will tweak the action bars out of square (likely if you don't have the tool, and possible even if you do) and the action will be "sticky" from that point forward.

It was a common practice for our guys to want to put "tactical" synthetic stocks on our wood stocked shotguns, and now, about half of them have goobered action bars.
