870 Tacti-cool Stocks

I have an 870HD and it's great. The only thing I was considering doing to it is change the stock to something that has a pistol grip AND shoulder stock. I am just having a hardtime getting used to a sporting style stock. (All the other long guns I own are more "assualt rifle" styles.)

Any suggestions on a new stock (or should I just learn
to shoot a new style stock)?
FWIW I hate AR-style collapsing stocks and prefer a fixed stock.

Thanks but specifically said I hate AR style collapsible stocks. I'm thinking maybe a speedfeed or something along those lines. Maybe, I should give it some more time and quit being a baby. I dunno.

I've tried many of the "Tactical' style stocks, and none come close to the old style wood for comfort, speed and effectiveness.

There's 200 years of R&D behind that lumber. Get a wood stock fitting you, add a decent pad like KickEez, Pachmyer or Sims, and note how your shots are faster, more accurate and less punishing.

Look,Schmooks. Results matter and only results.............

That is probably part of the issue. As its a HD it should have the plastic over long skinny pound your cheek thing on it vs the better more comforble wood stocks. Really not a lot you can do with one but toss and replace it.

I agree with the Knoxx SpecOps recoil reducing stock. Those things are sweet.

And the others have a point with the old fashioned wood stock. Pair that with a good pad and you have a comfortable gun to shoot all day long.

No f'n AR style collapsing stock. Thanks for the suggestion but I think they feel like flimsy crap!

I think I'll stick with the factory stock. It's more of a discomfort from bending my wrist than the recoil. If I don't get used to it after a couple more boxes then I'll look at the speedfeed again.

Thanks guys.

Note the curve of the grips

Knoxx makes a Spec Ops recoil reducing stock that is adjustable but doesn't collapse.. I have one and the 4 adjustmment positions insures any shooter can get a good cheek weld.

Maybe that might work

There's more to fit than "cheek weld", and a gun that doesn't fit is going to hurt after a while and just be inaccurate. FIT trumps the rest when it comes to making the results matter

Understood. My point was the stock is adjustable to 4 positions. The OP said he didn't want a collapsible. Just offering alternatives that might work for him.

Maybe some of you younger folks can explain the mystery to me -the wish to take a stock that fits and shorten it to youth length and make it so it no longer properly fits, and then think you have some magical gun because the stock, now 2-3 TOO short, is some tactical machine.............

Me too ... that's got to be interesting and cause a nose bleed or three or more, maybe even some blackness under the eyes

Can't be done!!!

I hope it can.

The reason that I love the adjustable stock is because the standard stocks are always to big and prevent any comfortable fit for me. With an adjustable stock I can shorten the stock to be about 1-2 inches shorter than the standard stock, which makes the shotgun a natural fit for me. That, and because the collapsible stock puts the finishing touch on my tacticool machine :D

Its quite simple really. That 14" LOP that is perfect while wearing your Hanes T-shirt is suddenly too long when you are wearing body armor.

That said I find a youth length stock to be perfect for all situations.
