Earlier this year, I picked up an ex-Sacramento Police Department 870 Wingmaster. Very solid, great action, shot POA and patterend well. But the finish, as expected, was rough. Very rough. Some signs or rust.
I'm fickle and vain when it comes to my toys. I like them clean and I like it when I am the one to put wear on them. Except for family heirlooms and some military surplus guns, I want them dings, scratches, and dents to be of my making.
I sent the 870 out to Mac's Shootin' Irons in Tucson, AZ for Gun Kote over parkerizing. The results were fantastic. I added a Hogue 12" LOP stock, a 1 shot extension, a tritium front sight, side saddle, and have a picatinny rail enroute for the forearm so I can mount a light.
Between Speer LEO 8 pellet ammo and Hornady TAP, I'm getting very nice patterns. I think I've created a solid HD shotgun.

Wilson 1 shot extension
Tritium night sight shows up very clear in natural light as well
The grey Gun Kote looks nice
