870 question

i can get an 870 express magnum 12ga. 3 inch with a fully rifled open sight barrell for 175 bucks from a family member. i have no use for the barrell, but i would have a use for this gun with a regular smoothbore remchoke barrell for turkey and goose hunting.

is it worth it for me to purchase this gun and sell/trade the barrell for the smoothbore barrell, or should i just buy a different gun?

both the barrell and the gun are in good shape, the don't look new, but they're not abused, it's an express so who cares what it looks like anyway.

Remington wants $210 for that barrel -- draw your own conclusions.

so if i was gonna trade the rifled barrell for a vent rib express remchoke barrell, is that a pretty much even trade or not?

You should have no problems trading that barrel, Heck I will trade you my almost new smoothbore 26" vent rib Remchoke 870 barrel for that rifled slug barrel.

Sounds like a good deal and you've already found a trade barrel. Go for it.

Best way is to trade as suggested or pay the $200.00 for what you want or look for a used one.
