Mike,

It will work fine provided that your flavor of 870 is not a Express with the dimples on the magazine tube to hold in the magazine retaining nut. If so they will interfere with the travel of the shells thru your extension. The dimples would be located just under the barrel retaining band.

If it is the express though, you can drill out the dimples which will allow you to add an extension.

However, it may void the factory warranty.
