870 Police

Just picked up a slightly used 870 Police and thought I might send it to a gunsmith for some work. Any suggestions - Robar, Wilson, VangComp?

What work?

Of the three, Vang has the best reputation, and is THE place to go for barrel work.
Wilson probably offers more options.
Robar is mostly a refinishing service.

Robar is actually a quite accomplished gunsmith shop. I have handled several of their shotgun packages, and they are extrmely good to go, much more so than Wilson, in my experience. Of the three, however, I would choose Vang.


If you do not mind, however, may I add a fourth? Yost-Bonitz. They make the very best fighint shotgun made, IMO>

I have used Vang Comp for barrels, Vandenburg Custom for an 11-87, and Tanks Rifle Shop (he also does Remingtons). I have been happy with all three.
