870 Marine Magnum Scattergun front sight mount

I have a 870 Marine Magnum with the nickel finish. Ordered a set of ghost-ring sights from Scattergun Technologies (Wilson) after talking to a rep on the phone. They told me that the front sight was designed to fit over the bead-on-pedestal factory sight, and could be simply epoxied or pinned there. This was perfect for me, as I don't want to irreversably damage the nickel barrel.

When I received the sight today, it's clear that the front sight will fit perfectly over the *pedestal* of the factory sight, but there is no
accommodation for the factory bead. Upon close inspection with a magnifying glass, it appears as though the bead may be screwed in rather than cast as part of the pedestal. It's hard to tell because the nickel plating covers both very smoothly.

Can anyone confirm or deny this construction? If it's just a matter of unscrewing the bead with a set of vise grips, and I can replace it with
another bead down the line, I'm fine. If it has to be cut off, that's a more significant issue for me.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin, if Scattergun assured you their sight would work, I'd get back on the phone to them and tell them the situation, and ask for their advice. If they sold you the sights, telling you what they did, it's obvious they must have encountered - and solved - this problem before. If they haven't, they were lying to you, and you should get hold of Bill Wilson personally and ask him why. He's a good guy, and will want to sort out your problem.

The most recent Remington's I've delt with had beads that were either brazed or tightly pressed in. In either case, they break off if you try to unscrew it.
