870 Mag springs

I built a couple of my 870's for Tactical games and find the pressure needed to load the mag tubes to be excessive. I have tried using the stock springs in an extended mag and even clipping some more off and I am affraid to go to far so that they will not feed. The Mossbergs seem to be very easy to load the tube. I guess that I will try some Mossberg springs in my 870. Anyone exprerience the same thing? What did you do?

Springs are not expensive, buy a couple and clip one until it fails to feed, then cut the other one an inch longer. That should do the job.

While you're in there, check the inside of the mag tube for rust and anything that might block the free movement of the spring, shells and follower....

I cut another inch or so and it seems to be ok now. Loaded the mag tube with dummies, worked them though and repeated a couple of times w/o a problem. Funny how cutting off an inch of spring seemed to have little effect each imte I did it until this one.
Now alll I need to do is practive, practive, practice. I guess that if the 3 most important thing about a piece o property is location, location, location, then on getting good with a gun it has to P,P,P. Jim

You nailed it, Jim! Practice until it feels like a body part and not a tool.

Good luck and good shooting...
