870 forend won't unscrew...

I searched and am following instructions on how to change the stock.

I am doing the method with the needlenose pliers on the forend (which is off the gun) and it is VERY tight, and won't budge at all. any suggestions? btw, i've tried lubing it, but it seams like they won't penetrate it very well...

I don't have the wrench, and don't know if walmart has it...thats where i got the stock from...

this is a pain, wish i had that dang wrench...

thanks

One suggestion, get the wrench and make sure you secure the action barrel-forearm to a good table top. If you try the pilers, you my widen or strip out the two slots on the forearm nut.

The forend on my 870 had been on the gun for 20+ years, never off.

I had to use WD-40, three small applications and let it sit for two days, and I bought an 870 wrench from Brownell's to do it rght.

Your best bet is to buy the wrench or take it to a gunsmith and pay to have it done right.

Get the forend wrench. I tried the pliers thing and it was a pain. It's 10X faster if you use a forend wrench.
