870 Express Forend Tube

I'm an idiot, I know. I was replacing the forend and stock on my early 1990's 870 express mag and decided to beat the forend tube out of the old forend and messed up the threads. I nearly got everything bent back to where it would thread again, but not quite. So now I need a new forend tube. I have found good deals on new forend tubes but they only specify that they are for a Remington 870. I know there are new and old models of the 870. Are the forend tubes interchangable on new and old? How about the 870 vs 870 express or the regular vs mag vs super mag? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and hopefully save me from buying the wrong part.

Thanks

The Express and standard 870 use the same action bar assembly.
The standard and Magnum use the same assembly.

The Super Magnum is different.

Gun Parts sell both the old type and the new type tubes, part number 28.

I "think" (note the qualifier) that an early 1990's gun will use the old style.

You can easily contact Remington and give them the serial number. They can tell you which you need.
Use the Remington customer service contact system:

I know there is a real early version mag tube from back in the 50's I have one where the limit plug is fastend with a set screw and depresses the spring! When I talked to remington, they said the tube is the same threw the years as to how it fits the recever! The only thing is it has to be replaced with heat and will remove alot of the blueing and would need to be refinished! Its not just a screw in mag like a mossberg. The only differant one would be the extended tube for tactical guns, then you would need even more perifial parts!
