870 12 Ga Youth, or shortened LOP WOOD stock???

I just got a great deal on a new 870 express combo. My "everyday" gun is an 1187 premier light contour, and it fits me perfectly. Got the 870 because I live in IL and can only deer hunt with a shotgun, so I got the 20" fully rifled barrel and the 28" remchocke barrel. I much prefer a semi-auto, but thought having a nice reliable pump gun around wouldn't be a bad idea. However, with the chamber closed, the forearm/pump is a bit too far forward for me. I'm only 5'8" and I'm just a little to extended when the chamber is closed. Its not terrible, but not comfortable. I understand Remington only makes the youth model in 20 ga, and I've been searching google for a shortened LOP, or youth stock in wood. The gun came from the factory with the hardwood laminate stock. I've found a couple synthetics, that would probably be OK, but I'd really like to stick with wood, either laminate or hardwood. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

I will be watching this post as I have the exact same issue. I hunt with a Rem 1100, and Browning Citori, but would like a pump for tactical reasons, but my arms are short. No problem cutting down the butt stocks, but big problem finding a long fore arm that I can reach.

Check Brownells. I had a heck of a time finding a youth sized buttstock stock for an 1187 12 gauge but they had one that I snapped up for my wife's gun....

If ALL else fails, PM me and I'll make you a 870 shortened birch buttstock with a recoil pad to your length......

Take the recoil pad off and see how it fits. If its better have the stock shortened and replace the pad.
