The MMM shrunk on the way to Washington DC. The National Park Sevice estimates that only 140-150,000 "Moms" showed up,[/quote]
Two Virginian Pilot reporters were published this morning. One article shows: "organizers claim 'as many as' 750,000 "people" showed up. Also that the crowd didn't appear as large as other demonstrations that have had lower estimates. It goes on to say that "with NPS no longer providing a count because of the debate that inevitably ensues, the calculation by organizers was the only one available Sunday". Just over three column inches was devoted to SAS which "drew hundreds of people, about half of them men ...".
In the second, a related local participant article, a 16 year-old high school girl was quoted and her affiliation is stated as "a member of the youth anti-firearm group 'Hands Without Guns'."
So - recap - (1) MMM turnout was probably not as large as "estimated"; (2) it was not strictly populated by mom's; and (3) it got 111-1/4 column inches in two articles of front page (banner-headlined-photo & text) and SAS got 2-3/4 column inches.
Seems that we have work to do if we really want to head off this attack on constitutional rights and our national well-being. This - as most of us up here are aware - is deeper, wider ... more perverse - than MMM. We can jabber, moan, groan and just plain chat all day every day, but we - in essence, are a small group compared to the whole country population - particularly when most of the country has bread on the table and bills as a more important daily concern - we don't command much (positive) attention.
We must gain a larger audience - not for our personal lamenting - but for sharing our concerns, our knowledge, and our skills with those who, with straight talk, could understand and support our efforts to defend existing constitutionally endowed freedom.
My 2 cents.
