835 Ulti-mag Question

I have had this ulti-mag for about 10 years now. I took it out yesterday to go turkey hunting. Finished up calling an area and went back to the truck. Tried to unload the gun and the slide would only come back about half way. Messed with it a bit with no improvement. I decided(right or wrong) that I was going to shoot it just to get the live round out of it. However, when I closed it and took off the safety, the trigger was locked also?

What could be the problem? Local gun store said they just sell, they don't fix so I need to find me a smith.

First you need to get the shell out of the gun right. You need help to do it safely. You need someone to hold the gun, pointed in a safe direction in case it fires when you dissassemble it. It sounds like the trigger group has a problem. Pull the trigger group out. That should free the action to open. Hopefully it won't cause it to fire, it should not though. But just in case do it where it will not harm anything if it does. Something in the trigger group is probably loose or moved out of position. When it is apart you might be able to fix it yourself if you can see what happened.
