$80 off Ruger LCP? (Well kind of)

Gander Mountain has the 'Rasberry Red' LCP for $220 along side the 'Regular Ruger' LCP which sells for $300.

If I had the choice I'd save the $80 in a heart beat if they are functionally the same. Are they?

(Asks Dale who doesn't know because he won't leave his bunker on Black Friday but reads the newspaper ads.)

Yep, same gun just different color pellets being melted down to inject into the molds. I bought the wife a Rasberry Red LCP and would not care what the color it was if I had to carry it.

Of course they are the same, other than the color.

That's a great price for an LCP. I say get one, the color doth not matter. They're ugly little pistols anyway.

Pretty much, but it is worth noting that many dyes affect the characteristics of polymers. In this case it probably doesn't matter, but it is a possibility. I have worked on parts that could not be died to customers initial wishes because it would weaken parts. It cold go either way if there is a difference. May be the raspberry polymer has slightly better characteristics.

There are some REALLY good deals out there on pink versions of guns. Look in budsgunshops clearance regularly any you will see some marked down while their more traditionally colored counterparts are still at full price.

There have also been some complaints, especially with the lighter colors, of the polymers staining more easily.

What difference does the color of a pocket pistol make?

None to me.

I had thought the profit margin on guns was so low that a manufacture (Ruger in this case) couldn't possibly offer $80 off a gun they normally sell for about $400.

Note: this is not the first time marketing stuff has confused me and I'm sure willing to admit I'm completely ignorant about much of that stuff.
