8-shot .357 mag?

Yes, as expected the S&W is of superior quality. But it is very pricy. I think(correct me if I'm wrong), it lists for over 1500.00. It is a custom shop pistol.

ACK! $1500:eek:

Dang, and I thought buying a revolver would be cheaper than a 1911. Guess I will be sticking to a 6 shot & just practicing a whole lot more

If you hunt around the auction sites you can find a 327 or a 627 Smith and Wesson at prices in the 650-800 range. It takes a while but is worth the trouble. I do not often see them sell at near sugested retail.

I have both and like them a lot. Because they are buildt on an N frame for the extra cylinder diameter they are a little bulky and not as easy as a 1911 for CCW. I like the 327 for winter coat pocket carry. Lots of firepower in a light package.

627 prices

The new 627 Smiths MSRP for $1160 something. No one pays that. Around $800-$850 is about right new. You see used around $650.

I had a 608 Taurus, it shot and functioned reliably, but I didn't like the factory porting. Plus it's freekin huge! They're built on thier 44mag. frame. Bigger than any 357 has a right to be! A handsome gun though.

Thanks for all the info. After doing more research, I'm gonna try a tried & true Combat Magnum.

Maybe the 627 or Taurus in the future.

Love my Taurus 608 big? yes, accurate? yes, comfortable with ANY .357 load? Yes, Smooth trigger after break-in? Yes...I have a few thousand rounds through it and it's still as tight as new and a friend recently commented that the trigger is as smooth as any S&W he's fired...
