7mm Rem or .300 WM

Which is a better round. I know the 7mm is a belted case pushing upwards of 3100FPS out of factory loads and the .300 WM is Non-beltes pushing out at about 2900FPS.

What are the advantages of one over the other. there are two nice guns in my local shop. A Browning Abolt in 7mm Rem and a tricked up Howa in in .300 WM I like the howa better but I want to know about the Cartrige. Help me out here guys. Thanks :)

Flaim, Both the 7mm Rem Mag and the 300 Win Mag are belted. I have one of each. As to which one is the better of the two is as far as I am concerned is like which is the best pickup Ford or Chevy. Both are flat shooting cal.s and if you reload you have quite a choice of bullets/powders to play with. Your final choice should be based on what you plan on hunting/shooting with the rifle. I don't feel you could go wrong with either of them.

THanks for the correction. I do reload although I am a novice at it. I will probably fo with the Howa since it it a much better rifle. It is new as opposed to used and has a very nice thumbhole stock that is balanced perfectly.

Flaim, you might check that thumbhole stock for ease of loading for a second shot. My experience is that it's fine, if you are target shooting, or if you are absolutely sure your first shot on game will be a good hit.

If you take a shot and it's only a "crippler", can you reload and get off the second shot extremely fast?

Just something to think about...
