Hello gentlemen
I’m brand new to the TFL. I wanted to get some input on 7mm mag, such as best powder bullets etc. the rifle has a 1 in 10 twist and we’re using 150 grn Bullets.
I’ve been reloading for several years, mostly pistol and some rifle. I thank you for your feed back.

My oldest grandson and I were working on a load this past week. We're working with the 150gr Partition.

Our rifle is a Rem. Sendero which has a good history of turning in really small groups with the Hornady 162gr SPBT out to around 600yds.

We tried out H-1000, RL 26, and 7828 all loads were lit with the Fed GM 215M primers. We found a couple of promising areas but nothing solid. We're hoping to be able to get some more testing done in the upcoming weekends and get something the grandson can use to reach out across our back pastures on hogs.

I liked the RL 26 but only had a partial jug so that didn't fly. The H-1000 just didn't seem to generate the velocity we were looking for, and the 7828 did OK but groups just didn't materialize.

Hey Mike. Hope all is well. Baldcat welcome. I’ve curious who makes a 7 mag with a 1-10 twist. My husband shoots a Sendero also and I shoot a Tikka Hunter. Sendero 1-9.25 twist and Tikka 1-9.5 twist. We’ve bounced back and forth with RL 22 and Imr 4831. For the 160s we use the imr 4831 and Remington 91/2 magnum primers. Both sub moa with our loads. My rifle is lighter and for most of what I need here I use the 140 Nosler ballistic tip. Both of us are getting ready to find a good load with Noslers 160 accubond. We can’t find Reloader 26 here.

Try Magpro for the 160. It wont disappoint.

The barrel on this is a Douglas Premium 1 in 10. This is a model 98 with a Mauser action, this is an older rifle back when Douglas was putting out really quality products. I say that only because I’ve heard that there quality isn’t what it used to be. Thanks for the tip, I have both powders you mentioned. I’ll try both and see what we get.
 
Thanks Mike, I don’t have any loader 26 but it’s available here, I’ve tried h 1000 with my 270wsm but from what you said maybe I don’t need to waste my time with it in the 7.

i have a Tikka 7 mag with a 1 -9.5 twist that really likes IMR 4831. To be honest with this rifle I have been able to produce sub moa groups with any bullet I have tried and I have tried 120 gr Nosler ballistic tips all the way to 162 gr ELD-X. The rifle also shoots well with H4350.
 
Lots of good powders available for the Rem Mag with the 150gr bullet.
IMR4831, Hodgdon Hybrid 100V, Ramshot Hunter & Magnum, a whole slew from Alliant.

RL22
RL23
RL26
PP4000.

I'd stay away from RL25. Good velocities, but not so great accuracy.

Personally, i'm shooting RL23 with my 150gr AccuBond Long Range.

Rl25 greatly depends on barrel length.
 
Post #6 nothing wrong with any of my Douglas barrels, only a few years old.
If you get Nosler's data, N160 is best for 150's.
However you cant go wrong with even slower powders,.
We use n160 in two different rifles and they will shoot under moa at 100 yds.
 
My 1980 700BDL in 7mm mag loves Nosler and Sierra 160s with 4350, 4831 even 7828. The Nosler 175 Partitions also do well. Took it out the other day and shot a 3/4" 3 shot group at 100 yards using ammo loaded in 1989 in that rifle that hasn't been shot in 20+ years
