722 Remington

Recently I acquired a 722 in .222 Remington. The stock is a little out of shape, so I'll refinish it. I know the 700 is a direct descendant, and am wondering if the action bolts are the same spacing on the short action models. Am thinking of using BDL bottom metal on the 722. Any suggestions from you fellows would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have a specific answer but I could not help responding to your post. I shot a 722 in .222 until I bought a CALHOON 19-223 about 3 years ago. The "Deuce" is a heck of a gun and that 722 with the 26 inch barrel is the king. A real shooter and a classic firearm. If I had not needed the money to cushion the impact of the Calhoon purchase, I would have kept the 722.

hippo, I've just finished with the stock and it looks pretty good (Tru-oil). The barrel on this one has seen better days but I'll shoot it for a while and maybe have another one put on later. They're all fun to mess with.
