70s Romanian 8mm surplus ammo accuracy?

Hi, I just bought my first M48 Yugo Mauser for a fun target shooting gun and I was wondering how well people have experienced using the 70s Romanian 8mm surplus ammo in terms of accuracy? Are you able to get good groups with it? or does it go all over the place?

P.S. I don't know if this means anything but this brand has 340 rounds per tin. Does that say anything towards the quality of the ammo?
 
It is mass produced military ammo, not match-grade stuff. It really boils down to whether or not your rifle likes it.

"Brand"? That ammo was made for the Romanian Military, during the cold war, by the communists. It was made to fight a war, or more likely, to keep the peasants in line. Who knows why they chose 340 rounds, it could be because that was the standard loadout for X number of soldiers, or it could simply be because that was how many rounds fit in the size box they wanted to use.
 
I recently bought a Yugo refurb Mauser 98k basically because I had a case of the Romanian 8mm in my basement, and nothing to shoot it in.
At the range, I was getting about a three inch group at 100yds.
I also shot some Yugo brass case heavy ball, and the group was about the same.
Keep in mind that just about all surplus 8mm is corrosive.

Dare Dragon--You asked abt surplus ammo for your M48, but these rifles really deserve better.

Have you considered reloading for yours?

I compete in Vintage Military Rifle with 2 M48's. My modified one will keep 10 rounds inside a 1-inch circle easily--Of my handloads using Sierra Matchkings over Varget. My "As Issued" one will stay inside 1 1/2 inches--usually--with the same load.

The Modified one put a Nosler Accubond through a deer last year--You never saw a deer's engine room more thoroughly ruined!

The M-48 is a fine rifle, IMNSHO. Feed and care for yours well. :)
 
That Romanian stuff is great if you can find it. It seems that all thats available anymore is that Yugo may fire Crap.
