So inspired by Ironwood's 70s era hog photos, I thought it would be fun to upload a few of my own. These are late 70s and one early 80s.
Got some photos from when you were kickin' it back in the day? I'd love to see em!
First up, my old buddy Mike (far left) dropped an arrow in this dude's spine from an honest 70 yards. We had become long range specialist because I took mine at a confirmed 60, but only after I totally blew a shot and went over the back of a much nicer 30 yard buck. Perhaps that's from too much practice at long range? It was such a horrendous drag off the mountain, over manzanita and lava rock, that buck had hardly any hair left on his sides. (Me on far right)
There's no sustitute for great dogs, two labs and two springers. 4 dogs, 4 fair shooters, 8 dead roosters a half hour after the opening bell on public land! Grizzley Island, CA (Rest in peace, Kaela! I still miss your big black head everyday!)
I didn't take a buck with a bow in '82, so I went back with a rifle. Snow covered Mt. Lassen in the distant background. "Hey mister. Can you come up here and take a pic with my camera?" Thanks old dude, whoever you were. (Now I'm the old dude. )
Share em if you got em! And you younger guys - take pics! I regret that I was very sporadic about having a camera, and even worse about hanging on to the pictures I did have. The quality was usually so bad they were eventually tossed. I'm lucky to have these.
