Hi all. This is the 700 BDL in .30-06 I inherited from my father this week. I am having a hard time figuring out its age. I have looked on the web and don't really make sense of it. I think it is from the early 80's. It has factory iron sights and a brass pin just forward of the trigger guard on the left side. I am probably going to upgrade the scope and trigger at some point, but here she is! The pics don't do justice to the condition of this rifle. I think I have the original box of shells that is 1/2 full.

Thanks Burrhead. That makes sense to me as I knew he got it about then. The W for Aug and the B for 81. What do you reckon the 71 is for?

I don't know what the 71 signifies; I'm not really a Remington guy. Could be an in-house number. I'm sure someone will come along and tell both of us all about it. Nice looking rifle BTW.
