700 VS vs 700 VLS. Negatives of the laminate??

I can get the VLS locally for about $60 cheaper than the VS. What are the negatives of the laminated stock other than weight? It does appear to be heavier. There is no mention of a pillar bed in the VLS.

I happen to own both: .223 VS; .243 VLS. The only reason that I bought the VLS in .243, is because I couldn't get the VS in .243. I currently have the .243 action in the VS stock, and the accuracy improvement was dramatic.

The VLS is not only not pillar bedded, it's not any kind of bedded. Also, the barrel is not free-floated. If you can get the caliber that you want in the VS, for only $60 more, you'll have gotten a bargain. The VS has an H-S Precision stock, which mounts the action on a full aluminum bedding block and free-floats the barrel.

I spent a little time with my Dremel tool and drum sander attachment free-floating the barrel on my VLS. Also bedded the action with Marine Tex. Save yourself aggravation and get the VS.

Had a VLS in .223 that was a great shooter. But it was the weight that did it in. I don't mind the heavy barrel on a gun I'm going to shoot from the bench, but I really wanted a walk around gun, and the VLS wasn't it! As far as I'm concerned, there were no negatives except for the weight.
