On a new 700, cocking and applying safety, it is possible to raise the bolt almost to the totally unlocked position and pulling the trigger will allow firing pin to snap. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

John, without looking at it I can't explain exactly what's happening except to say that your safety ain't workin' right.
