7 shot .357 S&W

My local dealer's got a .357 mag S&W 7 shot on sale that I'm considering purchasing. I've heard, though, that the model with the 7 shot cylinder isn't as "smooth" as the 6 shot. Does anyone have experience with both the 7 shot and 6 shot models? Is what I've heard true?

Ryan,

I have only the 686 plus, the 7-shot. I have heard comment that the 7-shot is smoother due to the smaller incremental movement between the more closely packed chambers, but cannot confirm. Some people also like the idea that the indexes on the cylinder are offset from the chambers, allowing for extra metal around the chamber.

I have shot both pistols literally within moments of each other and I really could not tell any significant difference between them. Both were VERY accurate and had perhaps the best out-of-the-box pistol triggers I have seen in years. Personally, I intend to purchase a 686+ soon.
