7 mm rem mag rate of twist

I have having a 7 mm rem mag custom built. Can anyone inform me whether a rate of twist of 9 is appropriate? It will be using 140 and 160 grain bullets.

1 in 9.5in is most common I have seen for factory.

My Parker Hale 1200 shoots 120gr (Ballistic Tip) to 168gr (SMK) about the same, and it is 1 in 9.5 twist.

If you don't shoot the 175s, a 10 twist is perfect. I shoot an 11 twist in my 7-08AI, since I don't shoot anything heavier than 140gr in that rifle.

IMOE, bbl. length also plays a major role in stabilization. The 160-175's will require longer barrels for tight groups most of the time. The 140-150's should shoot well in most 24" tubes, depending on individual appetite.
